The Emperors, Part 1

Last week you finally got to step into the world of Emperor Chrysander Draconis. From the moment I created him his mate was there, and Emperor Ellery Draconis is one of my favorite characters. Cliffhangers are irritating I know but there was simply no way to put everything in a single novel. The conclusion of Chrys and Ellery’s story is titled Eminently Elf and will be available on July 25th. Although I would love to give you their playlist I’m going to wait until after Eminently Elf is published. I’m always afraid I will give out spoilers that ruin it for you so that’s why I’m delaying that. I promise it’s not just because I’m mean.

Next week, select titles in the series will be available in print format for the very first time! I’m very excited to be able to offer Dra’Kaedan’s Coven (D’Vaire 1) and Sentinel’s Dagger (D’Vaire 2) in lovely paperbacks. The goal is to eventually get all of them converted but I don’t have a timetable for that yet. I can tell you that No Ordinary Drakeling is next (I’m only waiting on the cover) and Eminently Elf will be added within a few weeks of its Kindle format. If you’re attending GRL, I will have the pre-order form up soon for all four that you can pick up at the retreat. (I’ll only be bringing a small quantity with me to Albuquerque, so I strongly advise you to pre-order if you’re interested.)

So, what have I been up to in the last couple of weeks since I wrote one of these posts? It took me some time to put together the outline for the Prism Wizard’s book which I started last week. I’d intended to be much farther along than four chapters in at this point, but I caught a horrible chest cold last Tuesday and I still feel like I’m working my way back to being healthy. These guys are getting impatient too, I’m dreaming about them and waking up annoyed that I don’t have the energy to bang out thousands of words, but I’ll get there! I’m enjoying getting to know Vadimas better and getting inside of his head. He’s always kind of been in the shadows helping how he can and working hard so it’s nice to finally shine some light on what makes him tick. His mate is turning out to be complex and I think both Vadimas and I are going to find ourselves on quite a journey figuring him out.

I want to take this opportunity to once again thank you for being such wonderful readers. I love interacting with you on Facebook and I want you to know that I’m always willing to answer whatever questions you might have. I appreciate all of you so much and there are really no words for what it means to me that you continue to support my D’Vaire guys! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I’m incredibly humbled that we’re twelve books in and you’re still interested in what happens next!

This one is a bit short...

Five weeks ago, I sprained my finger and unfortunately, the tears in my collateral ligaments are still healing. I’m back at the orthopedist at the end of the month to check on it and with some luck, I’ll get to stop wearing the straps anchoring it soon. As you can imagine, it’s limiting my time on the computer. But I'm squeezing in as much writing and editing as I can. It was great to finally return to the D’Vaire household with Scales and Stone, and we’ll be there again for the next edition to the series, which is a holiday story. In my Facebook group, I’ll reveal the first hint about what to expect from the D’Vaires and their loved ones tomorrow morning. Although I’d hoped to be finished with a book by now, I’m still plugging away at it. The characters are being patient with me, which I appreciate. Like Scales and Stone, it takes place at the D’Vaire mansion, and it’s been fun to hang out with some of my favorite people. At this point, I’m still paranoid about whether these...

D'Vaire in 2023

Last week, Grymmie’s tale finally went live, and Lich Reaper’s Lament was the second longest book in the series. There was a ton more planned in the outline, but if I’d included everything, I would probably still be writing it! One thing I wanted to assure everyone is that although we learned little about enchanters, that won’t be the case for long. Since Lich Reaper’s Lament , I wrote two different books featuring Devlin’s race, and you’ll learn plenty about their people next year. If you’ve finished Lich Reaper’s Lament , I’m sure you’re already wondering what’s next. Book thirty-four features a character who first entered the series in Imperial Twist . His race is small, and he calls Las Vegas home. As for his mate, he’s new to the D’Vaire world and so is his race. In my reader’s group tomorrow, I’ll share the first picture hint with the blurb following in a couple of weeks. Since it’s the end of the year, let’s talk a little more about what to expect from the D’Vaires in 2023. I wr...

Demons, Death, and Darays

I enjoy trying new things as I create new stories in the D’Vaire world, and Demonically Daray was another first for me. Although it was my fourth short, I hadn’t attempted to write a romantic one prior to Hexaniys and Eduard’s story. It wasn’t easy for me. I like diving deep into projects and exploring the facets of the characters. They aren’t a new couple. Eduard rushed to tell me all about his other half immediately after he first showed up in my head many years ago. Initially, their plot was far more complicated, but since it wound up coming so far into the series, much of the original story was no longer possible or relevant to the D’Vaire world now. I kept trying to force them into uncomfortable situations to create something far longer, but Eduard and Hexaniys weren’t having it. They are a couple who adored each other, so I had to switch my mindset to accommodate them. I’m happy with the result and there are more demons ahead, but there will probably always be a part of me that f...
