Select D'Vaire titles coming to print soon!

It’s been an exciting week around my house. On Saturday I was lucky enough to secure an author spot at GRL. If you’re unfamiliar with GRL, it’s a retreat for authors and readers which will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico in October. For more information on the event or how you can join us for a lot of fun, go visit www.gayromlit.com. I’m glad that this year the husband and I can drive there, and I’ve convinced him to attend. If you’ve got some ideas for the types of swag you’d like to see, let me know. I’d love to give some away to my readers who aren’t going as well, so even if you have no interest in attending think about the fun things you might want.

Since I can’t go to a retreat like GRL without at least one D’Vaire book in print, I’m happy to announce that certain titles will appear for the very first time in paperback! I’m going to start with Dra’Kaedan’s Coven and Sentinel’s Dagger. My plan is to convert more of them in the future and I’ll have more news on when you can get your copy soon. I’ve never gotten to hold one of my own books in my hands so I’m pretty thrilled.

Next week you’ll get to see the cover for the next book in the series: Becoming D’Vaire. I love it and I hope you do too. Delaney’s story will be available on March 14th and I’ll set it up so you can pre-order it a few days before that if you’d like. I can’t wait for you to get to spend some time with Delaney and get to know his mate Grigori.

I finished Damian’s story last week and though I’d like to dive right into my next project my best friend is flying into town next week which means I must run around like a maniac doing things like scrubbing baseboards and other stuff he’ll never notice in a million years. I’m driving my husband crazy but seriously after living together for two decades he should’ve known this was coming. I’m also editing the other stories I’ve finished and that’s both fun and frustrating.

Speaking of my best friend, I mentioned in a previous post that I had some concerning news about someone close to me and I wanted to update you. His name is Patrick and he’s a cancer survivor. On his most recent CAT scan, there was some concerning inflammation that required further tests. I’m happy to report that his cancer hasn’t returned as we all feared. He was diagnosed with mild ulcerative colitis which his doctor is confident can be controlled if he vastly improves his horrible diet. I’ve got an entire week with him to get on his case to be sure he does just that. So thanks for all your positive thoughts!

It's great to be home.

The husband and I flew to Washington, DC for a long weekend and we had a wonderful trip. My niece and her family spent most of that time with us, and we’d gone entirely too long without seeing each other. On Sunday night, we had the awesome opportunity to attend an Iron Maiden concert and one of my favorite bands, Within Temptation, opened for them. While we had a fantastic time on our trip, sleep was not high on our priority list, so it’s going to take me a few days to get caught up. Beauty and Valor was released about twelve hours or so before I boarded my plane, and I really hope everyone enjoyed Preston and Ridgely’s story. Preston is an old character, and many details about where he came from and what race he belonged to changed, but the core of who he was never differed. He went through a few mates before I found the right one, and Ridgely was the perfect fit. Halfway through Gargoyle Birthright , that pair was distracting me, and there was no question that their book was re...

Origins

As I look ahead to the release of Dra’Kaedan’s Coven, my thoughts are drawn back to how it all started. There have always been characters in my head, but it wasn’t until I was a teenager that I understood they were stories that needed to be told. I have created many and for years I worked on a series of books that I still have yet to write. There are notebooks of plot outlines and timelines but nothing more than a collection of a few chapters. They are all contemporary stories and they started as M/F. My first gay character started as a secondary one, but I kept getting drawn back to him. Once I started reading M/M his story wouldn’t go away. Suddenly, it wasn’t just his story in my head but there were other couples as well. Since I have always been a gamer, its difficult for me to escape fantasy and some of these new people wanted powers. It was time to create a new series. At the start, I was going to do a mixed series. One book M/F and the next M/M. They were going to be mostly s...

The series returns to the D'Vaire mansion soon!

Caution: If you haven't read Blaze of Eternity yet, there are spoilers ahead! Resurrection of the Fallen was a book that, despite its length, I completed in less than three weeks. As fast as Conley drives, it’s not much of a surprise that he had to make sure his story was told swiftly. I worked from morning until night, and that book remains one of my favorite stories. The only slow day was the day I had to write the death scene. It took me a few hours to brace myself to write it, but it was otherwise a wonderful experience. One thing I love is the format, but I didn’t want to replicate unless the right project demanded it. While historical romances are something I adore and getting to play in around in the past is always fun for me, I figured Resurrection would be completely unique in that way. I know some readers don’t enjoy reading the historical content, but I started this series for me, and I will continue to write characters and stories that move me and make me want to read...
